Filipino photographer Mark Nicdao has reached a new milestone in his career with the Getty Museum acquiring a selection of his works, including a striking portrait of actress and model KC Concepcion.
 

Concepcion shared the exciting news via Instagram on Monday, January 20th, expressing her admiration for Nicdao's talent and her pride in being part of this achievement. The photo, taken in 2008, features Concepcion in a stunning creation by designer Puey Quiñones.



"I’ve always known Mark Nicdao was destined for greatness," she wrote, praising his "raw talent, vision, relentless hard work, and the mind (and heart!) of a genius."

Concepcion reminisced about their creative journey together, highlighting the "extraordinary talent" that has led Nicdao to this international recognition. "Seeing his extraordinary talent celebrated at this level is so inspiring," she shared.



Nicdao also took to social media to share a certificate from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, which authorized the export of his photographic prints to the United States.

The Getty Museum, renowned for its vast collection spanning various eras and artistic disciplines, now houses these Filipino masterpieces.  Located in Los Angeles, the museum features art from ancient civilizations, European art from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century, and a comprehensive collection of global photography.  

This acquisition marks a significant moment for Filipino photography, showcasing the country's artistic talent on a prestigious global platform. It also celebrates the enduring power of collaboration and friendship, as exemplified by Concepcion and Nicdao's journey together.
