- Blackwell Arrives: Nvidia's RTX 50 Series is Here
- Next-Gen Gaming: Nvidia Unveils RTX 50 Series
Nvidia has officially launched its next generation of graphics cards, the GeForce RTX 50 series, promising a significant leap in performance and AI-powered features for gamers and creators alike. Built on the new Blackwell architecture and leveraging TSMC's 4NP process, this lineup introduces four new GPUs: the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, and RTX 5070, available in both desktop and mobile variants.
All four GPUs boast several key advancements:
- Blackwell Architecture: Delivers significant performance gains and efficiency improvements.
- Enhanced Cores: 5th generation Tensor cores and 4th generation ray tracing cores for superior AI processing and realistic visuals.
- Faster Memory: GDDR7 memory provides increased bandwidth for smoother gameplay.
- Improved Connectivity: PCIe 5.0 support, along with DisplayPort 2.1b UHBR20 and HDMI 2.1b for high-resolution displays and faster data transfer.
- DLSS 4 and Reflex 2: Support for the latest AI-powered upscaling technology and low-latency gaming features.
Flagship RTX 5090:
The top-of-the-line RTX 5090 leads the pack with a massive 32% increase in CUDA cores compared to the RTX 4090. This translates to a 154% boost in AI performance and 66% higher ray tracing performance. It also features 32GB of GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit bus and a TDP of 575W. Despite the increased power consumption, the Founders Edition card maintains a dual-slot design with a robust cooling solution.
RTX 5080 and More:
The RTX 5080 offers a more modest performance bump over its predecessor, with a 5% increase in CUDA cores and 16GB of GDDR7 memory. The RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 round out the lineup, providing more affordable options with impressive performance for their price point.
DLSS 4: A New Era of AI Upscaling:
Nvidia also unveiled DLSS 4, introducing multi-frame generation. This groundbreaking technique generates three AI-powered frames between every two traditionally rendered frames, significantly boosting frame rates and image quality. This feature is exclusive to the RTX 50 series. Older RTX cards will benefit from enhanced single-frame generation in DLSS 4, improving performance and reducing VRAM usage.
Pricing and Availability:
- RTX 5090: $1999, available January 30th
- RTX 5080: $999, available January 30th
- RTX 5070 Ti: $749, available in February
- RTX 5070: $549, available in February
With the GeForce RTX 50 series, Nvidia raises the bar for PC gaming, offering a compelling combination of raw power, cutting-edge features, and AI-driven enhancements for a truly immersive and visually stunning gaming experience.
