All government employees to receive 14th-month pay starting May 15, 2016

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced that all government employees will receive their bigger midyear bonuses starting the middle of May 2016.

In an April 28 circular, Budget Secretary Florence "Butch" Abad said that Executive Order (EO)No. 201 signed by President Aquino in February mandated the grant of a midyear bonus -the 14th month pay equivalent to one-month basic salary.

All government employees - both civilian and military personnel are entitle to receive the additional benefit by May 15, the DBM has announced.

Meanwhile, employees at government-owned and/or controlled corporations will not be covered as they have separate Compensation and Position Classification System or CPCS under EO 203, which President Aquino signed last month.

As for the yearend bonus also equivalent to one month of basic pay as well as the cash gift of P5,000, these would be given away not earlier than November 15, the DBM said.

Employees must rendered at least a total or an aggregate of four months of service form July 1, 2015 to May 15, 2016 to get a bonus. Employees must obtain a satisfactory performance rating in the immediately preceding period, and must still be in active service as of May 15.
