Philippine absentee voting starts today

"To all absentee voters, exercise your right to vote, especially those in the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology who put your lives on the line in defense of our country," Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said.

Thos who registered for local absentee voting are set to cast their votes starting today until Friday. The COMELEC urged local absentee voters to go to their designated polling precincts to vote.

Covered by local absentee voting are government officials and employees, police, military and media practitioners who will not be ableto vote in their own polling precincts on election time because they have election-related duties.

local absentee voters can vote only for president, vice president, senators and party-list organizations manually.

For this election, a total of 24,497 local absentee voters are expected to cast their votes.
