President Rodrigo Duterte said no one can convince him to attend the joint Canvass Committee's proclamation fro president and vice president at the House of representative on Monday afternoon.
"I am not attending any proclamation I've never attended any proclamation in my life, in all of my political aspirations," Duterte said in a press conference.
"Nanalo naman ako sabi ko nga God would want me to face defeat but it never happened, sa bagay sa sugal talo ako parati so bawi na rin," Duterte added.
Duterte said he will not attend because he finds the ceremony "corny."

Before the new administration officially takes over on June 30, there's the proclamation of the newly elected president and vice president.
Duterte's pronouncement is contrary to his legal counsel Vitaliano Aguirre's statement last Friday where he said the incoming president is likely to attend his own proclamation.
When asked who he has tapped to serve as his representative during the proclamation, he said, "i don't know. May mga abogado ako doon. Makinig na lang sila."
