Philippine Navy's biggest ship has arrived

BRP Tarlac(LD-601), the country's first of the two strategic sealift vessel and the largest naval ship of the Philippine Navy has arrived in Manila South Harbor on Saturday May 14, 2016.

The BRP Tarlac left the Surabaya shipyard of Indonesian builder PT PAL(Persero) last Monday. The SSVs are programmed to be PN's floating command-and-control centers especially in the conduct of humanitarian assistance and disaster response.

These vessels are also critical assets for civil-military operations due to their capability of transporting large number of soldiers, logistics, and supplies. Moreover, each SSV has the capacity to house three helicopters.

The ship and crew will undergo Customs Immigration and Quarantine, Lincuna added.
