Mayor Rodrigo Duterte covers Time Magazine Asia "The Punisher" May issue

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is in the cover of TIME Magazine Asia, the magazine's May 2016 issue "The Punisher."

Davao Mayor Duterte, who has been both praised and criticized for his tough words, was the top choice in social media.

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte continued to lead the partial and unofficial results. Duterte is hoping to finished the election results in a couple of days so he could start thinking about who to appoint in key government posts.

"I hope the elections will be over in about two to three days. Kung malaman ko na panalo na ako, then I will think about maybe appointing the Cabinet members."

Duterte said putting officials in the department finance, transportation, and foreign affairs would be his priority. 

The Congress, which is set to act as National Board of Canvassers on May 25 will officially count votes for president and vice president.

Duterte lived up to the strongman title by serving as mayor of Davao City, once tagged as 'Nicaragua of Asia for 22 years, said Ian Bremmer.
