Abu Sayyaf freed Filipina captive Marites Flor

Abu Sayyaf captive Marites Flor was released today, June 24, 2016 according to the Sulu Provincial Police.

Sulu Police Chief Superintendent Wilfredo Cayat confirmed that Marites Flor was released on Thursday night. The Filipina is under the custody of Sulu Gov. Abdusakar "Totoh" Tan II.

Marites Flor, together with Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad, Canadian Robert Hall, and John Ridsdel, were kidnapped from a resort in Samal Island last year of September.

Two of the four captives were recently beheaded. Flor begged for help and said that their captors are beating them and that she has not talked to her family yet.

The ASG decapitated the heads of Ridsel and Hall when they failed to receive the ransom money. Sekkingstand remains to be the only captive of the bandit group.
