Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) issued an order to stop both services of Grab and Uber for drivers without a certificate of public convenience or provisional authority from operating. However, noting that the agency has stopped issuing new driver applicants for over a year. Around 50,000 operators of Grab and Uber are affected, as part of the agency's crackdown on illegal ride-sharing operations.Starting July 26, Uber and Grab drivers who are caught operating without a certificate of public convenience or provisional authority will be apprehended.
Many criticized the moved of the agency, which they told a more convenient and safer way of public transport.
