PH increases 13 radars from 3,covers 85% of the entire airspace

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines has issued the statement that the Philippines has increases its radar system from 3 to 13, covering 85% of the entire airspace.

"Definite air travel, established aircraft identification, and guaranteed air passenger safety and security are now within reach through the new Communication Navigation Surveillance / Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM).

On September 2017, an additional satellite-based CNS/ATM will be turned over to DOTr-CAAP to enable 100% coverage of the PH airspace. The CNS/ATM system is a state of the art computer and satellite based air traffic management technology is the same technology that is using by Australia, Taiwan, and other European states.

Due to the delay of the construction and other problems, it did not hit its target completion in 2016. The CNS/ATM project was started in 2009. The system will be fully operational by December 2017 parallel with the existing technology.
