Gilas Pilipinas stay undefeated, defeats Iraq 84-68 at FIBA Asia Cup

Gilas Pilipinas still remain untouched as they defeated Iraq on Friday, August 11, 2017 with a score 84-68. Going strong Gilas to improve to 2-0 in Group B play at the FIBA 2017 Asia Cup in Zouk Mosbeh, Lebanon.

Philippine team led by just one point at halftime, but strongly outscored Iraq 28-9 in the third quarter. Christian Standhardinger sparked the decisive third quarter blast as Gilas Pilipinas blew out Iraq, 84-68, to stay unbeaten. The Fil-German dropped 12 of his 16 points in the third frame, on top of his rebounds, to help the Philippines break away from a tight 32-31 lead at half time.

Kevin Galloway led Iraq scores with 23 points with 14 rebounds and six assists without much support his teammates.

Terrence Romeo scored 17 points, Carl Bryan fired 11 points and two rebound, added by nine markers and two rebounds from Roger Pogoy, Gabe Norwood shared eight points and seven rebounds in the decisive victory.
