Philippine made 50M Multi Mission Offshore Vessel for (DA-BFAR) was launch

The Department of Agriculture and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BAR) has launched the first Philippine made 50.5-meter Multi-mission Offshore Vessels on August 10, 2017. The launching of the vessel will follow the sea trial that will mark the beginning of testing before it will formally handed over to the agency.

The ship building started in January 2016. These will be first in their class built in the Philippines. Each vessel costs PhP 178.5 Million.

The 50m multi-mission vessel will be use for illegal fishing with the flexibility to lead in disaster reflief and/or rescue operations, as well as to serve as a platform for research." 


BFAR was designed by Incat Crowther, a retable ship designer based in the United States. The vessels were built at Josefa Slipways, a medium category local shipyard in Navotas City.
