Typhoon "KIKO" to bring moderate-heavy rains in Northern Luzon

Manila, Philippines - Tropical depression(TD) "Kiko" has maintained its strength as it heading to Northern Luzon with a maximum sustained winds of 55 kms per hour and gustiness of up to 65kph, state weather agency Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Tuesday morning.

In a bulletin update last 5 am on Tuesday, KIKO is already 345 kms east of Casiguran, Aurora, heading west northwest at 15 kph. PAGASA said "Kiko" might exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday evening.

Moderate to heavy rains and gusty winds are expected to experienced within 300 kms diameter of the TD. Residents in Northern Luzon are avised to be alert against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Signal number 1 is raised in the following areas:

1. Cagayan
2. Ilocos Norte
3. Apayao
4. Batanes
5. Babuyan Group of Islands
