The Philippine Basketball Association and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas announced on Sunday, August 5 to send a Philippine team to the 2018 Asian Games.
"We would like to announce our participation in the Asian Games and this will be final," announced by Philippine Olympic Committee chairman Ricky Vargas.
Yeng Guiao who will coach the team announced the 14-man pool on Sunday for Gilas Pilipinas.Six from the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters namely Maverick Ahanmisi, Chris Tiu, James Yap, Beau Belga, Raymond Almazan, and Gabe Norwood will be joining Magnolia's Paul Lee, San Miguel's Christian Stanhardinger, Global Port's Stanley Pringle, Blacwater's Poy Erram, TNT's Don Trollano and NLEX's Asi Taulava.

However, Lee, and Standhardinger were not part of the pool initially submitted by the POC to the Asian Games committee.
Kobe Paras and Ricci Rivero are ready to complete the pool if ever the two will not get clearance from the Asian committee.
