Miss Spain Angela Ponce was the first-ever transgender woman competing the Miss Universe pageant in Bangkok, Thailand. She may not have been crowned but she received a well-deserved standing ovation from the crowd on Monday, December 17.
The 27 year-old Spanish beauty has given a special segment before the announcement of the top 20 semi-finalists, in which she walked the stage for one last time while the tribute video was playing.
"If I can give that to the world I don't need to win Miss Universe, I only need to be here," Ponce said.
Thanks for this years Miss Universe pageant, for celebrating diversity, highlighting the incredible journey of the first Transgender woman vying for the title.

Prior to the coronation night, Ponce shared her motivation to join the Miss Universe pageant.
" I'm competing because it's what I've wanted to do since I was a little girl. I'm showing the trans women can be whatever they want to be: a teacher, a mother, a doctor, a politician and even Miss Universe."
Ponce won her first pageant in 2015 but that journey wasn't easy, as she faces discrimination into a world that wasn't prepared for transgender people.
