JIM Technology Corporation is considered as Japan's no. 1 manufacturer of tunnel boring machines.

The Metro Manila Subway is the Philippines first-ever underground railway system. "Before, people cast doubts and said it is all but a dream. But, on February 27, we will show them that this is real," DOTr Secretary Tugade said.

The group also headed to Hitachi Zosen's Sakai Works (HZSW) factory to inspect the tunnel boring machines.

The company has already manufactured 1,300 tunneling machines, and has a track record of 130 tunnels overseas.

The Metro manila subway is a 35-kilometer line that will run from Mindanao avenue in Quezon City to NAIA in Pasay City.

The project has the total cost of Php356.96 billion under the government Build Build Build program.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Philippine government had already signed a P51.34 billion loan agreement for the construction of the first phase.
