Five Negros Oriental high school students and a woman died in vehicular mishap

Five high school students were killed and 10 others including a teacher were injured when a V-hire passenger van they were riding collided with a cargo truck in Bargy. Mayabon, Zamboangita, Negros Oriental on Friday.



Most of the casualties were from Basay National High School, Negros Oriental, who were on their way home from Cebu City after participating in the Department of Education's(DepEd) Regional Math Sayaw dance competition.

Here are the list of fatalities:

Grade 11:
Christian Buenconsejo: 17-year-old
Cherry Rose Kadusale : 17-year-old
Cherry Ann Kadusale  : 17-year-old
Kevin Aguilar              :17-year-old
Jushua Busmeon          :18-year-old

Another unidentified woman from Bayawan City was also killed in the accident.


The injured passengers were identified as teacher John Mark Prestin and students James Bagarinao, 18;Justine Generoso,18;Elmar Toquero,17;Willie CJ Chua, 17; Jesse May Cabanal, 18; and four others.

According to police report, the V-hire driven by JP Sarad, 29 has lost control and swerved to the opposite side of the road, reportedly due to the slippery road brought by rain.

All the passengers were rushed to the nearest hospitals in Dumaguete City but six of them were already pronounced dead in arrival.

Deped extended its "sincerest condolences to the bereaved families," and assures adequate support will be provided to the victim's family.
