Plastic are the worst problem that the world are facing now, and big thanks to new research for conventional plastic alternative. This 23-year-old Denxybel Montinola from Cebu is creating one of his own innovation using local abundant resources such as mango peelings and seaweed.

Montinola's bioplastic was featured at this year's Bank of the Philippine Islands Foundation-Department of Science and Technology Science Awards. His research was derived from mango peels and seaweed which is a good source of pectin and carrageenan.

This two components which can be found in plants claims to be a flexible and robust alternative to the strength of conventional plastic.

This bioplastic is water-soluble and doesn't pollute bodies of waters.

Montinola revealed another advantage of mango peels, it could be used to protects the burned area of our skin or stop local bleeding.

Montinola is a graduate of Bachelor in Science in Applied Physics from the University of San Carlos in Cebu City.

And we are now excited to the progress of these research that somehow could be the answer to one of the global issues that the world are facing.
