It was no surprise that the 20-year-old Jane De Leon would be donning on the most coveted role of the Filipino super hero Darna. Jane is perfectly fits their vision of a coming of age story for the movie, Lamasan explained.
"'Yung Darna story natin ngayon is a genesis story, a coming of age. Ang requirement talaga is somebody na young and with an air of innocence, but at the same time a strength of character," she said.
Becoming a superhero takes time and a whole lot of hard work. It's a long and intricate process to get to show off those muscles on screen. And the recent actress to have gone through that arduous process is Jane de Leon for "Darna".
Explaining that Darna role, Lamasan was quoted by ABs-CBN News as saying that Jane bested hundreds of girls who auditioned, including Jane's other fellow Star Magic talents.
Tarog,who replaced the original Darna director Erik Matti, explained that they saw an "instinctive" talent to the actress.
"I will do everything and anything for the role because I believe in her, I believe in what Darna stands for," Jane said when asked how committed she would be for the project.
