This beautiful tulip garden in Lamitan City are made from plastic trash

Filipinos are getting more involved in protecting the environment as actions right now from the people are top urgent, because climate crisis is global.

Expert says, Philippines is one of the place in the world to face high risk of natural disasters, including earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, and especially hurricanes.

A place in Lamitan City, Basilan, recently gained praised online for the effort they contributed to protect the environment. On their own little way they recycled tens of thousands of plastic bottles and turned them into colorful tulips.

The tulip garden was built from 26,877 bottles collected from 45 villages around Lamitan City. Plastics bottles were cut into the shape of tulips and painted yellow, red, pink and blue. The place is now a new tourist attractions, as visitors have been flocking for photo opportunities and took their best shots.

This tulip garden at Sitio Panansangan in Barangay Ubit has been opened to public on September 23 and free of charge for visitors. The project is in line with Mayor Rose Furigay's campaign on managing trash. She also hopes that the initiative will inspire people to do their part as well.
