Children of Maguindanao Massacre Victims Get Together to Perform a Song for Justice

Maguindanao massacre victims’ children seek justice for their parents 10 years on. Most of the victims are 20 members from Mangundadatu family, supporters, 32 media and 6 were not included in the convoy.

The children of the massacre get together to perform a song to seek justice for what had happened to their parents. They won’t stop fighting unless justice will prevail. The song was written by Faye Morales, the teen daughter of journalist Rosell Morales.
A sadness in their heart felt from the lyrics “Nah-aapoy ang mga dugo, wasak na wasak man an gaming puso, di pa rin kami susuko, ito’y pagsubok lang-hustisya!”

One of the singer is an 11-year old named Kai Kai admitted she doesn’t know what “justice” is but she was hurt and sad without a mother.

The Mangudadatu massacre was a controversial topic way back then and it was the worst case happened.  58 people were shot using high powered firearms from around hundred armed men up in the hills.

At the forest Lake Cemetery in General Santos City, the children of 12 victims buried complies when asked to read aloud the words on the candles that they were playing “Convict Ampatuan, Justice now.”

A trial court pronouncement on the multiple murder case against the 101 people tried for the crime-including 15 Ampatuan are expected on or before December 20. Convictions are believed to be appealable all the way to the Supreme Court.

The family of the victims are still waiting for the court decision but the pain they felt can’t bring back the life of their loved one. But to stay strong and fight together they have workshop activities like painting and poetry writing which happened every year to tell everyone that they’re seeking for justice.

Forgiveness to them is still a difficult word to discuss. They said, it’s very easy to say sorry nut the anger would be hard to take away not unless the culprits pay the crime.

“Siguro mapatawad, pero matagal, at kailangan nila talagang pagbayaran,” Mary Grace said.

The husband of the News Focus Publisher and anchor Marites Cablitas said that visiting to the massacre site makes him remember the painful days retrieving his wife’s body from the hill. He forgive Ampatuan and he let God handles everything. He forgives to let go of the pain.

The journalist’s daughter don’t understand their feelings since they were still young when it happened. But they won’t stop seeking justice for their parents. The murder should be convicted for their sin.
