Kabuki Theater in Japan harnesses the force of Star Wars in their performance

What is Kabuki Theater all about?

Kabuki is a form of classical theater in Japan known for its elaborate dynamic acting.  Sometimes it is played for political discourse to describe an event characterized more by showmanship than by content. Only women were the only actors, playing both male and female roles. However, performed began gaining the wrong kind of intention, young male actors called wakashu took over the roles.


Japan’s Kabuki connects Star Wars in their performance. Star Wars is coming to its traditional Japanese Kabuki theater for one –off performance as Tokyo celebrates blockbuster cinema series. 


Kabuki actors will swap their samurai swords for lightsabers to perform the adaptation of the wildly popular series later this month.
Star Wars influenced Japan throughout the year. 
“Star Wars Kabuki will depict the sagas of love and loss for the Skywalker family that stretch for more than years”. –Ichikawa Ebizo, among the biggest names in Japan’s heavily choreographed kabuki world.


Ichikawa will star as Kylo Ren, the son of Han Solo who is drawn to the dark side. This performance will be held on November at an undisclosed location in Tokyo is shrouded in secrecy. However, they will feature key moments from recent installment of the series.

Japanese arm of Disney said, “Disney said it plans to invite at least 25 couples to the performance which will be live-streamed. It will be a show that both Star Wars fans and Kabuki fans will enjoy.

The new Star Wars film will hits movie theaters from December 20 will be the final episode that epic begun four years ago.
