Bacolod Capitol, Lagoon are now connected through Free Wi-Fi for All

True to its mandate in providing every Filipino access to vital ICT infostructure and services, the Department of Information and Communication technology (DICT) held a convergence launching event of DICT projects in partnership with the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.

The Free Wi-Fi for All Program held a ceremonial switch-on event of Free Wi-Fi for All in the Provincial Capitol. The 24/7 free Wi-Fi can be access in Governor's Office, Lagoon, Mambucal Office and the office at the Capitol compound are up for installation next year.

Around 250 internet users can simultaneously enjoy a free connectivity with up to 21 megabits per second speed (mbps) with effective range of 30 to 50 meters. 

The free public access wifi is a law (RA 10929) signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte which provides free internet access in public places such as parks, hospitals, schools and government offices and terminals.DICT is targeting that by 2022 they will have 200,000 access points. “This is one of the biggest free wifi deployment in the whole world,” the DICT acting chief said.
