The founder of St John Properties gave $10 million bonus to all 198 of its employees. Each employees will get $50,000 to $250,000 depending on how long they have been with the company.
The bonus was given to employees in recognition of the company milestone.
"To celebrate the achievement of our goal, we wanted to reward our employees in a big way that would make a significant impact on their lives,” said Edward St. John said in a statement. "I am thankful for every one of our employees, for their hard work and dedication. I couldn’t think of a better way to show it.”
"My philosophy has always been to surround myself with the best and the brightest – and that is what we have done. Every professional at St. John Properties is committed to excellence every day," added St. John.
Employees were handed a red envelope with their bonus check Saturday at the company's holiday party.
Some employees described it as "life-changing," allowing them to do things such as pay off their mortgage, pay for their children's education or go for vacation.
