Expect more Bicol bound PNR trains to deliver by 2021

Southern folks has now the reason to rejoice as the Philippine National Railways (PNR) has formally signified its intent to purchase more trains which is expected to deliver by June 2021.

If delivered, these trains will be used for the PNR South Long Haul (PNR Bicol) project, which will served the route from Calamba, Laguna to Naga City, Camarines Sur initially, and eventually to Legazpi City, Albay.

The contract signing today, December 18, was witnessed by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade, together with Undersecretary for Railways Timothy John Batan for the procurement of standard gauge Diesel Multiple Unit trains from CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co. Ltd. 

"Today, we are gathered here, in order to put the first stepping stone to realizing that dream of putting connectivity between Manila and Bicol. That dream which, many years back, were the glorious days of railroads story—where we can travel from Bicol to Manila, using the railways and the trains," Secretary Arthur Tugade said as quoted from DOTr Facebook page.

Moreover, Secretary Tugade lauded the invaluable efforts of the PNR, under the leadership of General Manager Junn Magno, in bringing back the glory of country's railways.
