Australia's fire crisis kill half a billion wildlife and plants

Australia are still in the state of wildfires' crisis which continue to pose severe safety and environmental problems not only in human but to animals around the area.

It is estimated to be half a billion animals and plants wiped out by raging wildfires in the last couple of months. Around 480 million creatures, including atleast 8,000 koalas were killed, which is extremely worrying as officials fear that 30% of the koala population in New South Wales may have died from the 10 million acres of land that turned into ashes.

The wildfires raging the New South Wales and Victoria began in November 2019, causing thousands of people fled their homes on New Year's Eve.

“The fires have burnt so hot and so fast that there has been significant mortality of animals in the trees, but there is such a big area now that is still on fire and burning that we will probably never find the bodies.” said Mark Graham, a Nature Conservation Council ecologist, to the parliament.

Meanwhile, here's the NASA's Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) shows this scene on Jan. 2, 2019, as wildfires continue in their intensity along the southeastern coast of Australia.  (Image credit: NASA EOSDIS)
