Li Wenliang is a Chinese doctor who tried to warn about the coronavirus outbreak died after contracting the virus while helping people in the early days of the outbreak.
“A hero who released information about Wuhan’s epidemic in the early stage, Dr. Li Wenliang is immortal,” the China Center for Disease Control’s chief scientist, Zeng Guang, wrote on the Sina Weibo microblog service.
He was reprimanded by the Police last December for warning friends in social media about the emerging outbreak. He was told by police to stop making false comments and was investigated for spreading rumors.
The death of the young doctor had caused sadness and many of the Chinese people took to social media to pay tribute for Dr. Wenliang Li's death.
