Governor Humerlito "Bonz" Dolor of Oriental Mindoro announced on his Facebook page the first patient who is positive of coronavirus (COVID-19) in his area. The 21-month-old baby girl is the youngest patient who acquired the deadly disease, which has a travel history from Alabang, Muntinlupa, from March 5 to 12.

The governor said that the baby's swab was one of the eight samples from the province that was processed by the Department of health (DOH). However, other seven suspected patients are tested negative for the disease, while five more are awaiting for the result.

Governor Dolor has requested for confirmatory test on the kid's sample who lives in the village of Ilaya.

“Because she is so young and just to confirm it further, I asked the DOH to have her specimen tested again,” the governor said, adding that her parents will also undergo testing and are currently under strict quarantine.
