The United States has recorded nearly 1500 deaths from COVID-19 between Thursday and Friday, according to the Johns Hopkins University tracker. It was the worst death toll globally since the pandemic began.
The figure increased the national death count to 7,406 as of Friday. That number is higher than what any other country has confirmed.
