Food aid delivered to rich people with big houses sparks outrage online



A photos emerged online of food aid distribution to rich people sparked negative criticisms online, with many calling out these rich people for accepting the donations.

While many have urged rich people to help the poor amid the coronavirus pandemic, these individuals in Tawau in Sabah, Malaysia with big houses living in a subdivision are accepting food packs. People reacting on the photos have suggested that instead of accepting the donations, why not to gave back to the deserving people who needs that relief the most.





Since the local government units in Malaysia have imposed the Movement Control Order (MCO), many daily earners were affected with no definite income. The effort is to flatten the curve, necessary to stop the rapid spread of the coronavirus.

However, there are some who praised for the relief effort saying that they distributed fairly as they giving aid even to the rich family.

Despite of the controversy still there some good side story have emerged in the country like this 72-year-old hardworking vendor who refused any help from the government who tries to give her food packs. According to Huang Lai Mei in Seremban, she refused to received the aid because still there are more deserving people who really needs the relief goods.

"I have enough food to feed myself. If I take what is offered to me, it will deprive others of the food. Besides, I am physically able to support myself. I have hands and feet, I can still support myself," Huang said.
