Navotas City mayor Toby Tiangco to donate salary until end of his term for residents unable to receive cash aid

Mayo Toby Tiangco of Navotas City on Sunday announced he will be donating all his salary until the end of his term for the residents who unable to receive cash assistance from the governement amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The mayor said that it would be up to the city social welfare department to divide his salary with a total of Php3.29 million or P121,918.88 per month.

The city of Navotas remains under lockdown with the rest of the National Capital Region due to the extension of the enhanced community quarantine until May 15. Navotas currently has 29 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 8 deaths and 7 recoveries.

President Rodrigo Duterte, members of his cabinet, lawmakers, and other local officials have also pledged a portion of their salaries for the people in fight against coronavirus pandemic.
