Look: Bacolod launches first ever corononavirus screening centre on wheels

The first mobile COVID-19 testing unit in the country was launched in the city of smiles, Bacolod. Unlike other testing centers, this one does not require a patient to go to the hospital for swab test. In just a matter of call or text message, the city health will bring the mobile swab testing unit right on your door steps.

The mobile lab will help protect health workers from being exposed during sampling, while the city is waiting for the operation of regional hospital's biolab scheduled to operate by June.

This mobile laboratory which cost P1 million will be used by the City Health Office during contact tracing missions.

The said project was initiated by the mayor's daughter Loren Kara in partnership with Engr. Rane Joseph Saril who provided the technical designs of the mobile lab.

The second unit will also follow after a private firm has committed to donate another mobile swab lab for the city.

Bacolod has already 11 positive cases of Covid-19 as of Thursday, including the two seafarers who arrived in the city last April 28 and three have died of the disease.
