A gang of monkeys snatched the blood samples of suspected coronavirus patients at a government hospital in India. The incident happened in Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College in Utter Pradesh when a lab assistant working with the COVID-19 was suddenly attacked by a gang of monkeys and stole the three blood sample in a box.
S.K. Garg, head of the hospital, told a Local news that the blood samples belonged to people who had tested positive for COVID-19, but were taken as part of routine blood tests for the patients.
The monkeys climbed the trees with the samples and threw them after chewing the packets as seen in the video that surfaced in social media.
Residents in the area were very concerned about the incident that might increase the risk of COVID-19 spread.
India's health ministry has recorded 165,799 coronavirus cases as of Friday.
