Some OFWs positive for coronavirus escape from quarantine facilities - Coast Guard

Some OFWs who later turned positive for COVID-19 have escaped from quarantine facilities, the Philippine Coast Guard said, according to PCG spokesperson Commodore Armand Balilo, in an interview over DZBB.

Nakahalubilo ang pamilya, ‘yung community,” Balilo said.

He said that those who escaped may be charged for violating the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act. Authorities are now already searching for the OFWs.

Balilo appealed to OFWs in the quarantine facilities to be patient in waiting for their swab test result and clearance certificate. So far, according to PCG, there are 6,000 returning OFWs who tested negative for the coronavirus disease has been given certificates that they can use to secure transportation back to their home.
