CamSur mayor juggles as a doctor and public servant due to shortage of health workers amid COVID-19

As the battle continue for the COVID-19 pandemic, shortage of health workers in some rural areas is also one of the greatest challenge.


In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB to Mayor Marco Chavez of San Jose, Camarines Sur, he spoke about how he juggles running the city and worked as a doctor in their community as several staff members at the rural health unit had to go into quarantine after one of the them tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

"Kailangan ko pong kumilos bilang isang doctor at tumulong kung anumang puwedeng maitulong ko,"he said.

Being a doctor, Chavez said that he will continue to perform his duty to provide medical help to those in need.

"Yan po ang sinumpaan kong tungkulin, kaya gagampanan ko po na maproteksyonan ko po ang aming bayan."



He also ask for volunteer health workers to help the city during this trying times.

"Kung sino po 'yung may natapos na po na health profession, pwede rin pong tumulong sa'min. Malaking tulong po 'yun."
