Groom with signs of COVID-19 dies two days after getting married, leaving 100 wedding guests infected

A 30-year-old groom in India who died two days after he got married has left atleast 100 guests infected by the coronavirus, all have been linked to the wedding ceremony.




According to reports, on his wedding day, the groom was apparently feeling unwell and even decided to postpone the wedding, but his family are against of his decision. The wedding continue on June 15, and his family forced him to took a pain reliever so he can focus on the ceremony since everything are all set.

“Even though he was feeling unwell by June 14 and wanted the wedding deferred, family heads from both sides advised against it, citing huge financial losses if the arrangements had to be cancelled,” a relative told The Indian Express.

Two days after the wedding his condition worsened and he died on the way to a hospital. His body was cremated without having a test performed on him.


A week after the wedding, nearly 300 people tested in the area, 113 has resulted positive by the disease and among the victims are his fifteen relatives who attended the wedding. 

“Our first priority now is to prevent the infection and break the chain. We have sealed parts of the neighboring Meetha Kuan, Khagari and some parts of the sub-urban marketplace of Paliganj," Community official Chiranjeev Pandey said.
