While many young ladies in the world are enjoying their childhood, this 13-year-old girl in the town of Mamasapano, Maguindanao in the Philippines however is preparing herself for a whole new level, to becoming a  mother.

Child marriage stories are nothing new, but what this story made viral is that this young bride will now have to take care of her husband's existing children, who happened to be the same age as her.

Asnaira Pamansag Mugaling became the fifth wife of the 48-year-old Abdulrzak Ampatuan after a day-long Muslim ceremony. Images of the Islamic wedding ceremony, which took place on October 22, 2020, began circulating on social media showed the girl in white traditional gown with the groom beside her.

Asnaira claimed she's 'not afraid' of Abdulrzak because he is 'nice to her'. Abdulrzak has built a small house for him and his new wife. While Abdulrzak was working on his farm, Asnaira was also busy doing household chores and taking care of her husband's children from previous marriage.

Abdulzrak says, he's happy to have found Asnaira and will spend his days with her taking care of his children.

"I will pay for her school because I want her to get an education while waiting for the right time to have children," Abdulrzak said.

UNICEF data suggest, the Philippines has 726,000 child brides - 12th highest in the world.

The couple said they plan to have children when Asnaira turns 20.
