Hundreds of Negros bikers brings awareness to climate change solutions

A group of almost 150 participants biked from the Provincial Capitol Lagoon to several areas in the city of Bacolod, November 8, 2020.

Dubbed as "Panikadsikad 2020: Sikad Para sa Dunang Manggad," the event was meant to raise awareness of climate change and raise spirits. 'It showcases a variety of art which opens the heart and mind of the people to let them be aware that we are responsible and accountable for our actions.'

One of the activities was the "Paglalamay" symbolizing that our environment has died from the hands of the greeds.

The event highlighted the group's call for the protection of the Northern Negros Natural Park against road construction, the black sand mining in EB Magalona, and for a coal-free Negros.

The group challenged all the Negrenses to put their moral obligation into climate action.

"There are setbacks, but we will remain focused and it will not stop our momentum. Thus, 2020 must be the year for coordinated, comprehensive climate action. But we’ve got a lot of work to do before then," the group said in GreenAlert Negros Facebook page.
