Davao City finally embrace electric buses

 This year Davao City is moving towards cleaner public transport and finally embrace the fully electric buses that will ply across the city streets.

Davao City government in partnership with Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC), GET Philippines, and QEV Technologies in Spain recently rolled out a sustainable and environment friendly bus system.







Seven (7) BEST Buses, which are 100 percent electric and fully-airconditioned will hit the streets starting December 14. Each bus has a seating capacity of 30 persons, however, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, only 15 will be accommodated by the bus.

The ride is free of charge. Dabawenyos shall register to the BEST Pass QR Code and scan it upon getting on the bus. It can be accessed by the public for free via the BEST Pass on the GET Pass app, which is available for free download on Google Play and Apple App stores. QR Codes for the app are available on the BEST Bus and BEST Bus stops.







Mayor Sara and Davao Light President and Chief Operating Officer, Engr. Rodger S. Velasco signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the BEST Bus Project, an initiative of the Aboitiz Power Company and Global Electric Transport (GET) Philippines.

The mayor welcomed the project as it aligns with the local government’s efforts towards more efficient and environmentally sustainable transportation options for the riding public.

The BEST Bus will take the routes: 


- Down Town Ikot 1 (North Loop) will traverse from C. Bangoy St., to Rizal St., Bolton St., Magallanes St., C.M. Recto, Acacia, Bajada, SM Lanang, Azuela Cove, R. Castillo, Carpenter, Sta. Ana Ave., and back to C. Bangoy St.



- Down Town Ikot 2 (South Loop) will traverse from C. Bangoy St., to Palma Gil St., Camus, Quirino, Bankerohan, Sandawa, Quimpo Blvd., Ecoland Drive, Times Beach, Ecowest, Quimpo, Sandawa, Bankerohan, Magallanes, Boulevard, R. Magsaysay and back to C. Bangoy.
