Filipinos now required to wear full face shields, masks in public

The Philippines' Inter-Agency Task Force has just announced that full face shields and masks are required in all public places.

"You have to wear both a face shield and a face mask. And it has to be a full face shield,"  said Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque during a televised Palace press briefing on December 15.

The new policy amends the previous IATF order which requires people to wear face shields and face masks only when entering enclosed spaces or establishments such as malls.

Authorities are preparing for a possible increase of COVID-19 infections during the holidays and they are hoping that face shields will effectively lessen the spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health 9DOH) has earlier encouraged the public to celebrate Christmas with loved ones at home, instead of going to physical gatherings.
