Hospitals already at full capacity in Mountain Province as COVID-19 cases spike

 Hospitals in Mountain Province, particularly in Bontoc, has reached its full capacity as cases of COVID-19 continue to rise.




"As of report po kahapon, yung kanilang hospital, yung Bontoc General Hospital ay talagang pong puno na, pati po yung TTMF (temporary treatment and monitoring facilities)," Cordillera Center for Health Development (CHD-CAR) Director, Dr. Ruby Constantino told DZMM Teleradyo in an interview Tuesday.






Mountain Province now has a total of 673 cases, 326 of which are active. Thirty-eight out of 57 new cases on Sunday were from Bontoc, according to Constantino.






The local government is now eyeing to use its building supposed intended for drug rehabilitation as temporary facility for mild and asymptomatic patients that can house at least 75 patients. There are currently six health workers who are positive for COVID-19.






Localized lockdown in affected villages will be extended for two-weeks to prevent the further spread of the virus.
