MMDA chief Danilo Lim dies after catching coronavirus

 65-year-old Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chair Danilo Lim has died after contracting the COVID-19. People in his hometown in Nueva Vizcaya mourned on his death.









"MMDA Chair Lim served the Duterte Administration with professionalism, competence and integrity. He would be dearly missed," Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.




"May the perpetual light shine upon him, and may his soul, through the mercy of the Almighty, rest in eternal peace," he added.





Lim announced on December 29, 2020 that he had contracted the deadly virus, saying he experienced mild symptoms and would go on isolation.







He is among former high-ranking military officials who joined Duterte's Administration in 2017 for the MMDA. He also served as customs deputy commissioner for intelligence under former President Benigno Aquino. But, resigned in 2013. 




Lim, who born on June 2, 1955, was also a West Point graduate.
