Cebu will no longer require RT-PCR results for incoming local tourists

Cebu city was the first province in the country that will no longer require incoming domestic tourists with a real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) results despite of the spike of infections in the island.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia signed and issued an Executive Order (EO) No. 12 easing the travel restrictions for individuals entering the province for tourism-related activities. Only valid medical certificate issued by any doctor, proof of pre-booked accommodation, and a pass symptoms checking from departure to arrival are required.

The move is part of the province plan to fully reopen for tourists by eliminating several health protocols, including negative RT-PCR results.

The governor made the remark after a news came out to place Cebu on another stricter quarantine following the discovery of two virus mutations in the province.

"We will make easier for all tourists to come in the province of Cebu," she said.

Garcia added that tour operators and airlines would come up with tourism packages for a very affordable amount. The government has been very vocal on her plans to revive the ailing economy of the province adversely affected by the global pandemic.
