Filipina Lizette Cabrera representing Aussie faces No.2 Simona Halep in Australian Open

Lizette Cabrera will be facing the world's number two Simona Halep of Romania in the Australian opening,  Monday, at Rod Laver Arena. Cabrera, who was born from Filipino parents at Townsville, Australia, is making her name for her fourth appearance in Melbourne.

Though her father Ronnie Cabrera did not live long to witness her daughter's career, her late father was definitely proud of her achievements. Her dad was born in Basilan, but died in September of last year and her mom Maria is from Angeles, Pampanga. They migrated to OZ in the early 20's.

"He just loved tennis so much, and if he was here it honestly would have been a bucket list thing for him to sit in my box and watch me play on Rod Laver," Lizette Cabrera said.

"That was his ultimate dream, so this will definitely be dedicated to him."

The 23-year-old who's vying for her first Grand Slam title is currently at No. 140.
