PH Red Cross offers Moderna COVID-19 vax for PHP3,500

If you want to get protected against COVID-19 anytime soon, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) offers Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for PHP3,500 (US$74) for two shots sometime next month, Senator Richard Gordon said.

The senator revealed that Red Cross was able to buy 200,000 doses from American pharmaceutical company Moderna. "If we are going to wait for the government's vaccines to come, we're going to be late," Gordon said in an interview in the online news program Headstart.

"So those of you who cannot wait, you pay P3,500 and that's two doses already," he added.

He clarified that the PRC is not making any money from the vaccines and the amount it will charge the public is only for the cost of the PRC payment to Moderna, as well as administrative expenses such as personal protective equipment and other support for the staff who will administer the jabs.

The Food and Drug Administration granted an emergency use authorization for the Moderna vaccine, which can be administered only to person 18 years old and above. Second dose can be received after 28 days.
