Manny Pacquiao's PDP-Laban faction ousted President Rodrigo Duterte as party chairman.
President Duterte was replaced by Senator Koko Pimentel following an election presided by party president Pacquiao during a national council meeting on Sunday afternoon, August 29, according to PDP-Laban Eecutive Director Ron Munsayac.
The Pacquiao faction previously expelled several officers, including Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi and Matibag, from PDP-Laban.
Likewise, the faction led by Cusi and Duterte has stripped Pimentel and Pacquiao of their positions as party officers during a national assembly on July 17.
Pacquiao's camp touts him as one of the leading bets for president, seen as challenger to Duterte's daughter, Sara, who is leading a recent presidential survey.
Duterte has accepted the endorsement and confirmed he would seek the vice presidency, but, Go remains uninterested.
