The move came after Nas Academy was figured in a controversy with Whang-Od's grandniece Grace Palicas, which claimed that the online course offered is a "scam."

Nas Academy denied it, saying they got Whang-Od's consent for the course. However, the issue was raised to the National Commission on Indigenous People (NICP), and confirmed that Whang-Od is unaware of it.
