LTO starts accepting driver's license application for 10-year validity

 Filipino drivers can now enjoy the 10-year validity of its driver's license starting Thursday, October 28.




According to the Land Transportation Office (LTO), those who have not committed violations are entitled to the program with the longer validity of the license.




Under the Republic Act No. 1093, signed into law in 2017, "except for student permits, all drivers' licenses shall be valid for five years...any holder of a professional or nonprofessional driver's license who has not committed any violations of Republic Act No. 4136 and other traffic laws, rules and regulations during the five-year period shall be entitled to a renewal of such license for 10 years, subject to the restrictions as may be imposed by the LTO."




LTO has also added a new requirement which requires renewal applicants to undergo the agency's comprehensive driver's exam. The exam could be done face-to-face or online at portal.lto.gov.ph.



"Pwede namang ulitin (in ase bumagsal). Kailangan ma-answer mo correctly at least 50%," LTO chief Edgar Galvante told 24 Oras.
