Miss Universe Philippines Beatrice Luigi Gomez has been reported she lost her suitcase upon her arrival in Jerusalem, according to Voltaire Tayag, director of communications of Miss Universe Philippines.
On Tuesday, in an Instagram post, Tayag responded to criticisms by some fans about Gomez's outfit during her photo with Miss Thailand, Anchilee Scott-Kemmis. According to him, Gomez's wore a tracksuit due to unforeseen circumstances.
"When she (Gomez) collected them at the Ben Gurion airport, all were accounted for," said Tayag, referring to the international airport in Israel.
"But when she got to Jerusalem, one suitcase was missing and not taken to her room. It has been reported but still has not been found," he added.
Tayag continueto explain that Gomez only went to the hotel luggage room to check if her missing suitcase has arrived. Adding that there were no scheduled activities for Miss Universe candidates at the time and that it just happened that Scott-Kemmis was in the area.
He said that Gomez was kind enough to accept her invite when asked for a photo op.
"I hope that before anyone jumps to conclusions, blames people, throw out negativity, know that there is usually a plausible explanation. Whether or not that is given, it does not give anyone the right to be toxic or accusatory. And up to now, one of Bea's suitcase has not been returned to her," he added.
But he assured that Gomez still has several outfits to wear for the events up to the coronation night on December 12.
