ANOTHER QUARANTINE VIOLATOR WHO CAME FROM THE U.S. ARRESTED

The Department of Tourism (DOT) is investigating another traveler who violated the quarantine protocols upon arrival in the Philippines.

DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat said that she have been receiving reports of alleged quarantine breaches even before the recent incident in Makati City. The unnamed woman "never checked in a hotel and headed straight to her condominium, where she even managed  to avail of a home massage service," Puyat  said.

According to Puyat, the woman admitted that she violated the protocol, but she never disclose whether the traveler had COVID-19 upon her arrival from the United States.

"In fact nag post pa sa social media na nagpapa-masahe siya. Nahuli na rin," Tourism Secretary Romulo-Puyat  said in an interview with Teleradyo on Monday.

Recently, a woman who arrived from the US skipped quarantine to party in Poblacion. She later tested positive for COVID-19.

Violator could be penalized with a fine between P20,000 and P50,000 or imprisonment of not less than one month but not more than six months, or both under the republic Act 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Disease and Health Events of Public Concern Act.
